Circle House Village
Circle House Village is a visionary construction project aimed at fostering development in underprivileged regions.
Launched in 2020, the initiative uses crowdfunding to build circular, three-level structures, each accommodating 16 families or small collectives. The project emphasizes local involvement in construction and sustainable living practices.
Residents engage in reforestation, self-sustenance, and creative recycling. At the heart of each village, a communal building serves as a bakery, school, café, and seminar space, promoting education and collaboration.

The idea
A vision for sustainable living and community-driven development.
Structure Overview
Circle House Village is a construction project featuring a circular building with a 64-meter diameter, spread across three levels. Each structure is designed to house 16 families or small collectives.
Detailed Design
The design of Circle House Village has been carefully developed, with extensive attention to detail in the construction process.
Community Involvement
A key part of the planning involves engaging the local population early in the construction process, ensuring community involvement from the start.
The Center
In the middle of each Circle House Village there is a common building, which partly functions as a bakery, but also a school, café and seminary.

The Future of Circle House Village
By far the largest part of the building materials for a CHV-1 is recycling, both from the local area and from construction sites in the western world.
The idea is to collect discarded materials and furniture, and send them forward in a container to the destination.
All types of defective and asymmetric materials can be used, as perfect surfaces are not planned.
An example is the basement level, where tiles in different colors and shapes form a water-resistant surface on the walls and floors, like you see in a swimming pool.
The advantage of this technique is that you can use all types of discarded tiles, as long as you adapt each individual tile in the large mosaic image.
If a flood occurs, the entire basement plan will be prepared to be able to accommodate the water for a period of time without any damage to the building.
The forwarded container will be dug under the area by the center house, and will be connected to the basement level, which will be able to store drinking water in them.
In addition, other buried containers will form shelters and storage for food.
In the event of a hurricane and extreme weather, residents will be able to seek refuge in this buried area.
Near the center house there is also the local well, where the residents can collect water every day for use in the divided 16 apartments that CHV-1 offers.

Here is an overview of what the different plans contain.
Basement level: bath, toilet, storage, beds, access to common corridor.
Ground floor: entrance from the central area, exit to garden, and 2 windows. Living room, kitchen and stairs to the first floor, as well as stairs to the basement level.
1st floor plan: Hallway leading to 2 rooms and door to roof garden.

XSAAB has developed custom-made brackets (CHV-M series) for Circle House Village. Each bracket fits the building’s construction.
A total of three different variants of Circle House Village 1 have been developed.
Model 1: Built with a container as a supporting element.
Model 2: Built from wood which is put together using older construction techniques.
Model 3: The load-bearing parts are assembled using the fittings CHV-M series.
The external design will be largely the same on all 3 models, therefore all three models go under the same type CHV-1.
Collection and recycling of plastic packaging must be used to plant the approx. 20,000 local tree varieties. They will not import or export varieties, but exclusively recreate nature and forests, which contain the traditional types of trees.
The advantage of all the new trees being planted in plastic packaging is partly that you can easily replant them as they grow, but also that the residents have the opportunity to move the plants indoors in the event of a hurricane or extreme weather.
